GDT's Golden Calf - Pastor Worship Part 2

In this week's update, we complete part 2 of our examination from our earlier article on the phenomenon of pastor worship at Golden Dawn Tabernacle. Following the feedback we've received, it's become evident that the issues we've highlighted are directly reflective of the situation at GDT, particularly in their excessive adulation of Isaac Noriega. We'll be elaborating further, providing additional insights and examples to underscore how Isaac Noriega has become the focal point of worship, akin to a 'golden calf', at Golden Dawn Tabernacle.

Acceptance of Hypocrisy: Another sign of pastor worship is the acceptance of hypocrisy, where the pastor's actions are justified regardless of what he says or does. Additionally, putting the pastor's desires before one's family is seen as a form of worship, as the pastor's word is placed above that of the husband and father.

  • The church mandates that before each service every member must pray in front of the church and adhere to a strict seating arrangement. However, during these times, Isaac chooses to monitor the congregation through a camera system from his back office, rather than joining in prayer as he expects of others.
  • Recently, Pastor Isaac Noriega has imposed a new rule requiring congregants to remain seated for an additional 10 minutes after the service, ostensibly to reflect on the sermon and pray. Meanwhile, he swiftly exits, avoiding any interaction with the congregation, and often departs in his vehicle with noticeable haste, described vividly as "peeling out."
  • Furthermore, there's a noticeable disparity in how rules are applied within his own family. While any regular member might face public criticism or penalties for similar infractions, Isaac's family seems exempt from such repercussions. This apparent nepotism has been the subject of several of our articles, including instances where the church has seemingly covered up scandals involving his family members.
  • Some Sunday school and church school teachers at Golden Dawn Tabernacle have been conveying to the children that the pastor's love surpasses what their own parents can offer. This message has been causing distressing outcomes, particularly with devout children beginning to harbor resentment towards their parents. They perceive their parents as not sufficiently obedient to the church's rules, which is leading to discord and division within families.

Lack of Transparency: An inability to question the pastor or ask for transparency, such as inquiring about church finances, indicates a culture of worship.

  • The absence of elections, coupled with Isaac's hand-selected individuals in key positions, raises questions about the church's financial transparency. Despite collecting funds, there's no clarity on their allocation; the church doesn't produce expenditure reports or receipts for gifts. This is puzzling given that any extra church events are minimal, musical and all other services are volunteered, and there's no evident public outreach. When pressed for answers, the deflective response often is, "It's God's money."
  • Another peculiarity revolves around Isaac's residence on Mockingbird Lane. There's an unspoken mandate against visiting or approaching his home. This shrouded personal life permits Isaac to maintain claims about his devout daily rituals of prayer and study, without any verifiable evidence.
  • Moreover, the church, and Isaac Noriega in particular, make outgoing phone calls with restricted or blocked caller IDs. This practice is curious, especially since most recipients have the numbers for return calls. One can't help but speculate if this is a strategy for deniability, especially since interactions over the phone with Isaac are typically reported to be less than cordial.

Control: Dependence on the pastor for decisions and approval can be a sign of pastor worship. They also highlight how their church controlled various aspects of their lives, from school graduations to wedding ceremonies.

  • Control within GDT epitomizes the notion of being "subject." This concept extends to consulting Isaac on every life decision — from choosing a job, selecting a house, purchasing a car, to managing personal finances. Isaac has doctrinally positioned himself as both the "head" and the "spiritual husband" of the congregation.
  • Matters of personal intimacy, particularly marriage and courtship, are entirely under Isaac's jurisdiction, requiring his explicit approval or blessing. Couples who bypass this system often face consequences, such as being relegated to a "private wedding," which carries negative connotations, or getting married under the so-called "permission of Balaam," an idiom implying indifference or a lack of blessing.
  • The church's influence pervasively extends to every intersection of life and faith — be it the church-run school, weddings, or funerals. Isaac's approval dictates every detail: service participants, bridesmaids, groomsmen, choice of songs, singers, teachers, pallbearers, and even dress codes. In GDT, nothing proceeds without Isaac's sanction.

Lack of Spiritual Growth: The lack of personal connection with God when everything is dependent on the pastor's approval, ultimately hindering individual connections with Jesus Christ.

  • At Golden Dawn Tabernacle, the focus has shifted from avoiding sin against God to staying under Isaac's radar. This shift has led to a profounder fear of Isaac than of God, profoundly altering the congregation's spiritual dynamics.
  • Isaac's habit of making every significant decision on behalf of his followers essentially absolves them of personal accountability. Consequently, when things go awry, often as a result of Isaac's misguided advice, it's convenient for members to blame God instead of their own choices or Isaac's counsel.
  • With Isaac interposing himself between the congregants and God, the church has plunged into a cycle of gossip, distrust, paranoia, and hypocrisy. This toxic atmosphere deeply affects the community's overall spirit.
  • The stringent regulations enforced by Isaac mean that many congregants start associating Christianity itself with his authoritarian style. This leads to disenchantment and growing resentment towards religion, as individuals mistakenly attribute their grievances to their faith rather than the pastor's conduct. Consequently, Golden Dawn becomes a hotbed for apostasy, bitterness and apathy, driving people away from what could be a normal and healthy religious belief system.

Conclusion

These signs, when present, indicate a church that is focused on pastor worship rather than worshiping Jesus Christ. One of the most significant consequences of pastor worship is the excessive amount of control that pastors gain over their congregation. As empowerment is taken away from the people, and more stringent rules are enforced on the congregants, church officials and pastors gain increasing levels of control. They do so by claiming that a higher authority (God) is mandating such actions. This can lead to some pastors exercising an excessive amount of control and authority over their congregation, which can result in abuse. A question to our readers: what level of control do you think GDT is operating at?

We strongly urge everyone to prioritize seeking guidance and direction from God, rather than exclusively depending on a fallible pastor's endorsement. We encourage our readers to cultivate a personal relationship with God and place that bond above any human influence. While it's natural to admire and respect church leaders, this respect should not eclipse the essence of one's spiritual journey and growth. We hope our readers find a church that cherishes its congregation and maintains a balanced perspective, where the pastor stands with the people, not above them.

The pyramid is numbered correctly. However, it’s upside down. Logically The point should be the base when the number of participants are so minimal at level 6 due to most participants of GDT are too scared and most rarely ever go past level 4. I was there 7 years. I prayed to God to open my eyes. The problem is the Spineless Jellyfish MEN. Young and old Who put their trust more in man than God’s Word. They’re the GUILTY ONES and must be SINCERE with themselves, their wives and their children and HUMBLY REPENT! Then THE GREAT HOLY SPIRIT start to FLOW. And please don’t say that I DON’T KNOW THE SITUATION. I KNOW MANY THINGS THAT ARE SIMPLY “Hollywood gossip” at GDT because I was accepted into their “big boys club”. When they tried to intimidate me by sending deacons or elders to my home and rebuke me or correct me, I simply stated " SHOW ME IN THE WORD" and they would simply walk away like frightened puppies with their tails between their legs. That’s why I blame ALL THE MEN AND THEIR ADULT CHILDREN who still remain at GDT because GOD GAVE US FREE MORAL AGENCY TO CHOOSE. Unfortunately, members choose MAN and those with HUMILITY AND SINCERITY OF HEARTS choose GOD and HIS WORD!

GDT is a cult — October 28, 2023

I remember one time I was working at one of Isaac’s neighbors house. I was pulled over on the side of the mockingbird rd doing some paperwork in a company car, when Ezekiel Torres, Isaac’s number 2 minion, passed by me. I seen him pass and drive up to the house. Curious I waited to see what he was doing. He was there for less then 2 minutes and left, passing me again. The following service Ezekiel followed me to the bathroom and asked if I worked for the such and such company and I said yes. He then asked what I was doing on that street. I told him it doesn’t concern him and walked away. Isaac acts like he owns mockingbird lane and send his minions to protect it.

The people at GD don’t worship God, they worship Isaac and it’s clear. We know that God is all knowing and all seeing yet they deliberately sin and hope Isaac never finds out. And when he does they write a note saying sorry to the pastor for sinning and they ask the pastor, not God for forgiveness. 🤡🤡🤡. It’s so funny being out looking in at what these people do. It’s truly mind blowing.
